Study of Freeze-thaw Induced Damage Characteristic for Himalayan Schist

چکیده

The freeze-thaw (F-T) induced deterioration in rocks affects their durability, leading to various landslides, rockslides, and avalanches. study focuses on estimating loss rock strength using mineralogical properties under the influence of multiple FT cycles. samples were collected from F-T affected north Indian Himalayan region. specimens subjected conditioning (0th, 10th, 20th 30th cycles). (such as indices textural indices) mechanical uniaxial compressive strength; UCS Brazilian tensile BTS) calculated before after conditioning. A correlation was developed among properties. result shows a strong relationship between BTS with mean grain size. Further, results used develop mathematical model, based parameter decay function, predict

Freeze-Thaw Bayesian Optimization

In machine learning, the term “training” is used to describe the procedure of fitting a model to data. In many popular models, this fitting procedure is framed as an optimization problem, in which a loss is minimized as a function of the parameters. In all but the simplest machine learning models, this minimization must be performed with an iterative algorithm such as stochastic gradient descen...

Principal Type of Water Responsible for Damage of Concrete Repeated Freeze-Thaw Cycles

The first and basic cause of the failure of concrete is repeated freezing (thawing) of moisture contained in the pores, microcracks, and cavities of the concrete. On transition to ice, water existing in the free state in cracks increases in volume, expanding the recess in which freezing occurs. A reduction in strength below the initial value is to be expected and further cycle of freezing and t...

Freeze-Thaw Resistance of Concretes with BFSA

Abstract—Air-cooled Blast Furnace Slag Aggregate (BFSA) is usually referred to as a material providing for unique properties of concrete. On the other hand, negative influences are also presented in many aspects. The freeze-thaw resistance of concrete is dependent on many factors, including regional specifics and when a concrete mix is specified it is still difficult to tell its exact freeze-th...

Freeze-Thaw Durability of Air-Entrained Concrete

One of the most damaging actions affecting concrete is the abrupt temperature change (freeze-thaw cycles). The types of deterioration of concrete structures by cyclic freeze-thaw can be largely classified into surface scaling (characterized by the weight loss) and internal crack growth (characterized by the loss of dynamic modulus of elasticity). The present study explored the durability of con...

Importance of Realistic Freeze-Thaw Protocols

The relative effect of a freeze-thaw cycle on photosynthesis, respiration, and ion leakage of potato leaf tissue was examined in two potato species, Solanum acaule Bitt. and Solanum commersonii Dun. Photosynthesis was found to be much more sensitive to freezing stress than was respiration, and demonstrated more than a 60% inhibition before any impairment of respiratory function was observed. Ph...
